We all belong to a tribe, and often to multiple tribes over our lifetimes. Jay Ahr’s Tribal series celebrates the incredible diversity of traditional culture, craftsmanship and creativity from all over the globe.

The Kuba Kingdom flourished in Central Africa between the 17th and 19th centuries in the heart of modern-day Democratic Republic of Congo. Kuba textiles are renowned for the complexity of design and bold geometric patterns, traditionally made using woven cloth from the Raffia palm.
